This entire letter was posted in Lyme Regis where it was received into the post on May 10th 1841. The postage was paid by a penny stamp which has been removed for the envelope leaving only a sliver of a Maltese Cross post mark in black. The letter addressed to Cheltenham arrived there the following day and received a fine circular Cheltenham post mark. The letter was closed by a very fine wax seal depicting a Royal coat of arms and what appears to be three 'fleurs de lys'
