  • Digital Collection

1993-018-4-14

Entire letter posted in Bath, receiving a "Travelling" handstamp of the no ring type, with seriffed characters. This handstamp was only in use in Bath during July/August 1845 during re-cutting the permanent handstamp when its serifs were removed. The postmark is dated July 19th 1845 and the penny postage was pre-paid and indicated by a manuscript one in red as there was no stamp applied. The letter received a Shaftesbury no ring type handstamp dated July 20th 1845.

The letter refers to a copy of deeds sent to a solicitor in Shaftesbury.
