                                          COURRIER NAUFRAGE

                                                 SUR LE CONGO.

This cachet is struck in two lines in black from metal type and appears on a letter posted at Bangui Oubangui-Chari in French Equatorial Africa on the 11th June, 1927. It is addressed to France and was delivered at Langon Gironde on 24.7.27. Monsieur Tournier refers to this casualty and attributes it to the steamer Largeau, which he states was in trouble on the 23rd June, 1927 at a short distance from Brazzaville. There is no trace of any vessel of this name through Lloyd's Register, but no doubt Monsieur Tournier is correct. He states that the accident whatever it was had no serious consequences other than damaging some of the bags of mail.
